Why not snap up a bargain and help someone else at the same time?
Carers’ Support Dover District and Thanet have teamed up with Smugshot the Deal portrait photographers to raise money for local families.
When you make a donation of £25 to Carers’ Support, SmugShot photographers will give you a family portrait setting and a framed print worth £100.
Each year Smugshot photographers supports a local charity and this year have decided to work with the Kent Messenger charity of the year 2011 - Carers’ Support Dover District & Thanet.
.
The charity will receive the full £25 for each family portrait sold. Laurie Philp - photographer and business owner said " I have been aware of the work of the carers support over the last few years and I'm now delighted that I'm in a position to help fund raise for this great cause.
As a former professional fundraiser I know just how difficult it can be for local charities to raise money. In a strange way we are both in the same business... families."
Carers' Support - Dover District & Thanet is a registered charity providing a free service to Carers who live within the Dover and Thanet Districts. They provide support by offering a wide variety of services, including: one-to-one emotional support, practical information and advice. The organisation seeks to raise the awareness of Carers' issues and to ensure that Carers' views are heard.
If you would like to “snap" up a bargain for your family while helping others at the same time, you can make your donation of £25 and receive your family portrait voucher by contacting Kathy at Carers’ Support on 01304 364637 or Laurie at SmugShot on 01304 369328.

Makeover Session For Kent On Sunday group Reporter Jenny Armstrong

Olwen Shaw and I appeared in the newspapers this week having created a makeover session for a local reporter Jenny Armstrong of the Kent on Sunday newspaper group.
Jenny came along to write about the benefits of having a makeover. I was there to capture the results.
Although better known now as a pet photographer I did train and teach portraiture for 10 years in Oz and the US. I'm in the same business as Olwen: to help real people look and feel their best. Just because professional photographers can produce sharp pictures doesn't mean that they have any understanding of what it's like to sit the other side of the lens. The camera in unsympathetic hands can really destroy the confidence of the subject. I'm a fat, bald bloke, So I know how to be kind to people.
If you'd like to see what the session looked like I’ve created a video that can be viewed on this link...
